Hello. I’m Matt, an integrative psychotherapist, supervisor, psychosexual and relationship therapist, and celebrant. My pronouns are he/they. I believe in accepting and respecting people as they are, which is reflected in my way of working where I value client autonomy. I initially trained as an integrative therapist. My way of working blends humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive therapy into a cohesive approach. You can read more about my work as a counsellor here or click here if you want to find out about my celebrant work.
Prior to retraining as a therapist I spent many years working and volunteering for different LGBT+ organisations. I have previous training in theatre and acting. I love to read and spend time in nature.
I have an MSc in Contemporary Psychosexual Therapy with distinction. I offer Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy in private practice for individuals, couples, and polyamorous relationships. Please see my Psychosexual Therapy page for further information.
I have an interest in faith, religion and spirituality which is reflected in some of my work. I previously sat on the BACP Spirituality Division’s executive committee. I have written multiple articles around spirituality and mental health. You can read some of my these on my Articles page.
Why Liminal Journeys?
I chose the name Liminal Journeys to reflect the dual roles that I hold as a therapist and a celebrant.
Both counselling and life rites are journeys at moments in our lives where change occurs. Liminality is often described as transitional or as being at a threshold. At the end of the journey, whether that is therapy or a life rite, we are not the same as we were before.
